From Small Beginnings
In the month of September of 2017 my wife and I made the leap into buying a 1985 2 stroke diesel dump truck. The dump truck was far from “road worthy material”, but through lots of hours after work wrenching on the truck and Top Ramen noodles and Mac and Cheese, we finally had built something to be proud of by the month of May 2018. The video blog of our journey can be found on our YouTube channel “BRIAN VANDUYN” under the playlist 1985 2 stroke diesel dump truck. I have had a passion for dump trucks since I was a little boy playing with my hot-wheels dump truck, to my first dump truck that was a 1976 Dodge D700 with a two speed rear end double ram 16ft bed which my grandfather let me work for, I say “work for” because in our family nothing is ever given for free but love, everything else is earned with blood, sweat and tears. I helped my grandpa rebuild the carburetor and wiring and a few other things on that dump truck. My grandfather originally bought it to haul our CASE 530 TRACTOR/BACKHOE to our 40 acres in Shelton, WA. I still remember to this day breaking down in the middle of traffic with my grandpa and putting out the triangles to guide traffic around us while my grandfather proceeded to fix the machine with nothing but duct tape and a crescent wrench. OK, maybe I’m exaggerating a little but that’s how I remember it. So the passion was born and here we are now starting a legacy for our family and a lifetime of service to our community and state! With 2 super dump trucks and a solo we can take care of any hauling needs you will have and with our 2 excavators and dozer there is no project to small that we can’t tackle together!
